A contestant from I Am SOLO has been convicted of assault and other charges in a first trial.
On June 24, the Daegu District Court's Criminal Division 2 (Judge Park Kyung-mo) sentenced 47-year-old Choi (known by the pseudonym Jeong-sook from Season 10 of I Am SOLO) to a fine of 7 million KRW (approx. $5,000) for charges including assault, property damage, and verbal abuse.
The incident occurred in 2023 during a dispute over a taxi. Choi was accused of slapping the victim, identified as "A," six times and knocking their mobile phone to the ground during the argument.
Prosecutors had previously requested a six-month prison sentence, but the court issued a fine instead. The judge cited Choi's admission of guilt and apparent remorse as reasons for the lighter sentence.
However, Choi failed to reach a settlement with the victim and also had a prior conviction for a similar assault case—factors the court noted as aggravating.
📺 Choi gained public attention through appearances on ENA and SBS Plus's I Am SOLO (Season 10, using the alias Jeong-sook), and later appeared on programs like Kangsimjang VS and I Am SOLO: Four Seasons.
