Netflix's new Korean original series Trigger (written and directed by Kwon Oh-seung, co-directed by Kim Jae-hoon) is set to premiere globally on July 25. A teaser poster and trailer were unveiled on June 25, building hype for what's to come.
🔫 Gun-Free Korea, Under Threat
Trigger is a disaster action-thriller that explores a terrifying "what if" scenario: in a nation known for its strict gun control, illegal firearms are suddenly being delivered anonymously. The story follows two men who take up arms — each for very different reasons.
👮♂️ Kim Nam-gil as Lee Do, the Cop Who Picks Up a Gun Again
Kim plays Lee Do, a former detective who returns to duty to protect justice. Opposite him is Kim Young-kwang as Moon Baek, a mysterious ally who supports Lee Do in unraveling a dangerous conspiracy.
🧨 A Nation on Edge
The teaser poster shows the two men facing a crate of firearms, marked with the chilling line: "Guns have arrived in gun-free Korea."
The trailer opens with the ominous quote: "Everyone has a trigger inside them." Gunshots echo, bullets scatter, and mysterious packages containing illegal firearms flood into homes across the country — pushing ordinary people into extraordinary situations.
🎭 All-Star Cast and Director
The cast includes Park Hoon, Kil Hae-yeon, and Kim Won-hae — all of whom heighten the realism of the thriller. Director Kwon Oh-seung, who gained global attention with Midnight, returns to helm the series with a fresh take on Korea's gun-free society under siege.
🎬 Director's Note
"This is a story where unimaginable what-ifs become real," said director Kwon. "We approached gun violence from a completely different perspective compared to conventional Korean films."
Trigger promises to be a gripping ride through chaos, morality, and survival — premiering worldwide on Netflix this July 25.
