A fresh take on Japan's beloved romance film is coming to theaters
🎬 From Page to Screen — Korean Remake in the Works
Actors Choo Young-woo and Cynthia have officially joined the cast of the Korean remake of Even If This Love Disappears Tonight (Korean title: Oseisa), based on the bestselling Japanese novel by Misaki Ichijo. The project has completed its first script reading and opening ceremony.
Originally a massive box office hit in Japan, the film tells the bittersweet love story between an ordinary high school boy and a girl suffering from anterograde amnesia—a condition that resets her memories each night. The Japanese original even outperformed classics like Love Letter at the box office.
💫 First Movie Lead for Choo Young-woo
Choo Young-woo will play the male lead, Kim Jae-won, a boy who drifts through life without a real sense of purpose. His world begins to shift when he meets Han Seo-yoon, a vibrant and positive girl who's nothing like him.
This marks Choo's official silver screen debut. "I truly enjoyed both the original novel and the Japanese film," he shared. "As soon as I got the offer, I was excited. I really want to do well with this role."
🌙 Cynthia Returns to the Big Screen
Following her breakout performance in The Old Woman With the Knife, Cynthia returns to theaters as Han Seo-yoon, a girl who wakes up each day with no memory of the previous one. Despite her condition, she faces life with a bright, cheerful spirit.
Cynthia is set to embody the ultimate first love icon. "As a fan of the original novel, I'm beyond thrilled to portray a character I love," she said. "I'll do my absolute best during filming."
🎥 Coming Soon — Directed by Kim Hye-young
Oseisa will be directed by Kim Hye-young, who made her feature film debut with It's Okay, It's Okay, It's Okay!. Filming is set to begin on July 5, with a theatrical release planned later this year.
