Actress Song Ha-yoon is taking legal action one year after school bullying allegations were raised against her.
⚖️ "Proving Something That Never Happened"
According to her legal representative, Law Firm JI-EUM, "Last year, a rumor resurfaced about alleged school violence involving Song Ha-yoon over 20 years ago. Although she denied the claims, proving that something never happened is inherently difficult."
The firm added, "Song Ha-yoon has since collected substantial evidence to prove the falsehood of the allegations made by an individual identified as Ms. Oh. Based on this, we have officially filed a criminal complaint against her."
🚨 On the Police Wanted List
Ms. Oh has been accused of defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act and obstruction of business through deception.
Despite multiple attempts by police to investigate, Ms. Oh—who resides in the U.S.—has repeatedly refused to cooperate, claiming U.S. citizenship.
However, South Korean authorities have confirmed through the Ministry of Justice that she still holds Korean nationality. After continued non-compliance, she was officially placed on the police wanted list in May. The police will be notified the moment she enters Korea.
Song's legal team is also reviewing additional legal action in the U.S., and considering civil and criminal charges against any third parties who spread false claims.
📑 Testimonies and Verified Evidence Submitted
The actress's legal team clarified that "Song Ha-yoon never committed any acts of school violence against Ms. Oh during high school and was never forced to transfer schools."
They submitted official documents and notarized testimonies from public institutions to support their case.
Furthermore, a classmate who was named as a witness to the alleged incident denied ever witnessing any violence and confirmed having told Ms. Oh the same—yet Ms. Oh allegedly went ahead with her claims and even submitted them to TV programs.
The homeroom teacher from that time also confirmed that the allegations were unheard of, and multiple alumni stepped up to provide statements in Song's defense.
💬 "I Chose Truth Over Rush"
"Song Ha-yoon suffered significant emotional distress and reputational damage from these false claims," the agency stated.
"She believed that an official investigation would be the best path to reveal the truth, rather than rushing into explanations."
🔁 New Start After Agency Contract Ends
Lastly, the actress shared, "My previous agency contract has ended, and I'm preparing to return with a new mindset. I'll continue working hard to show a more mature and humble version of myself."
Ms. Oh previously appeared on JTBC's Case Chief in April 2024, claiming that Song Ha-yoon bullied her for 90 minutes during high school over 20 years ago. At the time, Song firmly denied the allegation, stating, "I don't even know who she is."
