Actors Kim Nam-gil and Kim Young-kwang are set to deliver an intense and unexpected partnership in Netflix's upcoming action thriller Trigger.
🔫 A Gun Crime Mystery and Two Men with Secrets
On July 3, Netflix released new character stills from Trigger, featuring the contrasting duo at the center of a nationwide gun crime case: Lee Do (played by Kim Nam-gil) and Moon Baek (played by Kim Young-kwang).
Lee Do is seen holding a sniper rifle with piercing focus. Once a military marksman in conflict zones, he picks up a gun again to fight illegal arms cases and uphold justice.
"Lee Do is someone who refuses to return the pain he received back to the world," said Kim Nam-gil. "He has a quiet resolve and deep inner restraint that defines his strength."
🎭 Total Contrast: Playful vs. Precise
In contrast, Moon Baek exudes a completely different aura—laid-back, quirky, and charismatic. While Lee Do is meticulous and composed, Moon Baek's charm lies in his unpredictability and mischievous edge.
"Moon Baek felt like a fresh new character for me," said Kim Young-kwang. "He carries a dark past, but the way his image evolves throughout the series really drew me in."
Though their personalities clash, both characters are driven to take up arms—and they find themselves forming an uneasy alliance at the heart of a growing gun crime epidemic.
🎬 The Director's Insight
Director Kwon Oh-seung shared, "The emotions conveyed through Kim Nam-gil's gaze felt like a story on their own. His subtle expressions gave his character authenticity and depth."
On Kim Young-kwang, he added, "There's something irresistibly captivating about his smile. That smile alone perfectly embodies Moon Baek's essence."
Co-director Kim Jae-hoon noted, "We had countless open discussions with the actors about the characters. Watching how the dynamic between Lee Do and Moon Baek shifts over time will be one of the most exciting parts of Trigger."

Trigger is a gripping action thriller that dives into a chilling premise: illegal firearms are mysteriously delivered across Korea, causing a rise in violent incidents. At the center of it all stand two men—both with very different pasts and motivations—who are forced to cooperate in the chaos.
