Singer Moon Won Responds to Controversy: "I'll Take Responsibility, With Shin Ji by My Side"

Moon Won, the fiancé of Koyote member Shin Ji, has spoken up amid a wave of controversy. His response came just a day after his candid "divorced man" YouTube video gained traction online.

📲 On July 3, Moon Won (real name: Park Sang-moon, 36) shared a lengthy post on Instagram.

"I wanted to speak from the heart," he wrote. "It took time to gather the facts accurately."

💍 The couple recently appeared on YouTube show Eotteoshinji, where Shin Ji introduced Moon to Koyote members Kim Jong-min and Baekga for the first time.

😬 But Moon's behavior in the video sparked backlash:

  • Referring to Shin Ji—7 years older—as "Jiseon-i" instead of her name
  • Showing up in a tracksuit to meet her members
  • Jokingly telling Kim Jong-min, "That's age fat"

📉 Fans flooded the video comments and social media with concern, even calling for the wedding to be reconsidered.

Moon addressed the criticism:

"I deeply regret my careless behavior. Just because Shin Ji is close to me, I overlooked how her fans might feel. I sincerely apologize."

He added,

"I also apologize to Jong-min hyung and Baekga hyung. I acted inappropriately. And to Koyote fans—I'm truly sorry."

🧾 Online rumors about Moon's past also spread quickly:

  • A netizen claimed Moon once worked in real estate without a license.
  • Moon admitted:
"During my struggling days, I worked at a real estate office at a friend's suggestion. I now realize that was wrong, and I regret not knowing better."
  • Another rumor hinted at hidden divorce records.
  • Moon clarified that his previous marriage ended through mutual agreement, not conflict.
  • Regarding premarital pregnancy, he confirmed it:
"It's true that my previous marriage happened after a pregnancy. But claims of cheating during that time are false."

🚫 On more serious allegations—like school bullying and assaulting a junior during military service—Moon firmly denied everything:

"None of it is true. I'm ready to present objective evidence if needed."

📛 Finally, rumors that Moon changed his name three times were debunked:

"My real name is Park Sang-moon. I only changed my stage name from Gilyeon to Moon Won."

🧎‍♂️ Wrapping up, he asked the public to stop spreading unconfirmed claims:

"I'm reflecting on my flaws. I promise to become a more responsible man as I walk this journey with Shin Ji."

💒 The couple is expected to marry in the first half of next year. They first met in 2023 on the MBC radio show Single Bungle Show, where Shin Ji was a host and Moon appeared as a guest.
