Veteran Actor Shin Goo Honors Stage Commitment Despite Wife's Passing

Legendary actor Shin Goo will take the stage as scheduled for the play Waiting for Godot, even on the day of his wife's funeral.

🎭 "The Stage Is a Promise to the Audience"

Production company Park Company announced the news on July 4, beginning with condolences:
"Shin Goo's beloved wife passed away on July 2 at the age of 87. We express our deepest sympathies and respect to the late Mrs. Ha Jung-sook."

Shin Goo and the late Ha Jung-sook were married for over 50 years, having tied the knot in 1974. The funeral service was held the morning of July 4.

Despite the loss, Shin Goo traveled to Eumseong, Chungbuk on the same day to perform. The company confirmed, "Mr. Shin Goo deeply values his lifetime promise to the audience. He has chosen to proceed with performances on July 4 and 5."

They added, "With heartfelt remembrance and a strong sense of artistic duty, he will stand on stage. We ask audiences to send warm applause and comfort during this difficult time."

🎫 About the Play
Waiting for Godot is a renowned absurdist play by Irish playwright Samuel Beckett. The story follows two wanderers, Estragon (Gogo) and Vladimir (Didi), who wait endlessly for someone named "Godot."

Shin Goo plays Estragon, while actor Park Geun-hyung takes on the role of Vladimir.
