A woman in her 30s who posted hundreds of malicious comments about actress Shin Se-kyung has been sentenced to prison.

According to legal sources, Seoul Eastern District Court's Criminal Division 3 sentenced Kim (35) to 8 months in prison on July 2 for charges of criminal threats and defamation. Prosecutors had initially requested a two-year sentence.
Between June and August 2024, Kim posted over 450 malicious messages targeting Shin Se-kyung on the internet forum DC Inside. The posts included sexually explicit insults, body shaming, and even offensive remarks about her family.

The court stated, "The defendant posted numerous degrading and threatening comments about the victim, who is a well-known celebrity, without any particular reason. The victim is experiencing significant emotional distress and has requested severe punishment."
However, the court also acknowledged, "There is no clear indication that the defendant intended to act on those threats," and cited this in determining the sentence length.
💬 Defendant Confessed & Pleaded for Leniency
Kim admitted to all charges during the trial. Her legal representative said in the final hearing, "The defendant has been living in seclusion and is trying to reintegrate into society. She currently works a 14-hour-a-week part-time job and sincerely asks for leniency."
