Red Velvet's Yeri takes on her first leading film role in a chilling teen horror flick
🎬 From Idol to Actress — Yeri's Next Chapter Begins
Red Velvet's Yeri (Kim Ye-rim) is officially kicking off her acting career with her big-screen debut. She stars in The Ritual: Spirit Game, a high-teen horror film directed by Son Dong-wan.
📸 First Look at Yeri as Ja-young
On July 9, the production team released stills of Yeri in character as Ja-young, the calm and composed class president of Grade 12, Class 5 at Gyesang High School. Despite eerie circumstances, her icy presence never falters.
👻 What's the Story?
The film follows a group of students filming a mock ritual for a school contest—until they unknowingly summon a real spirit. Yeri's character is the first to agree to the idea, proposed by Gi-ho (played by Seo Dong-hyun), and soon becomes entangled in a paranormal nightmare.
📺 Building Her Acting Résumé
Yeri has steadily built her acting chops with roles in the 2023 KBS-1TV drama Galchae and MBN's Cheongdam International High School. She recently reprised her role as Baek Jena in Cheongdam International High School 2, released earlier this month.
🎥 Festival Debut and Official Release
The Ritual: Spirit Game premiered at the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival on July 5 and is set for official release on August 6.
