A small-town festival in Korea is making headlines—because of the wrong Taeyeon.
🍎 Jangsu County Responds to Taeyeon Booking Rumor
On July 15, Jangsu County released a statement addressing online buzz about Girls' Generation Taeyeon being invited to perform at their local festival. "Taeyeon was considered for the opening concert of the 'Hanwoo & Apple Festival,' but her appearance was never confirmed," the county explained.
📸 Leaked Poster Sparks Confusion
The incident began when a poster draft featuring Taeyeon's photo and name went viral. The poster stated that she would perform on September 19 as part of the festival's celebratory concert. Online users even claimed to have confirmed her appearance with local officials.
But SM Entertainment quickly shut down the rumors:
"Taeyeon has never been contacted for this event. She is not performing at the Jangsu festival. We hope fans are not misled," said a representative.
🎤 Turns Out, It Was a Case of Mistaken Identity
The real invitee? Trot singer Kim Taeyeon—not Girls' Generation's Taeyeon. While the festival organizers didn't comment on Kim Taeyeon's confirmed status, the confusion stemmed from both artists sharing the same Korean name: 태연 (Taeyeon).
🛠️ Festival Organizers Apologize for the Mix-Up
Jangsu County admitted that "a draft poster and internal artist shortlist were leaked" and apologized for "causing disappointment." They also promised to strengthen procedures to prevent similar issues in the future.
