Comedian Lee Soo-geun has responded to speculation surrounding the recent sale of a building under his wife's name.
🧾 "Not Related to Medical Expenses," Says Agency
On July 16, Big Planet Made stated, "The reason behind Lee Soo-geun selling the building registered under his wife's name is not to cover medical expenses due to family health issues."
They clarified, "The decision was made purely based on personal investment judgment and asset management plans. It has nothing to do with any specific personal or health-related matters."
📍 Building Sale Sparks Speculation
Reports recently surfaced about Lee Soo-geun selling a building and land in his wife Park Ji-yeon's name, leading to speculation that the sale might be to fund Park's upcoming kidney transplant.
The property is located in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul. The couple jointly purchased the land in February 2011 for around 1.3 billion KRW. The building itself is registered solely under Park's name.
They are expected to earn approximately 1 billion KRW in profit from the sale, which fueled speculation that the funds would go toward surgery and living expenses.
💉 Park Ji-yeon Preparing for Second Kidney Transplant
Park Ji-yeon is currently preparing for a second kidney transplant scheduled for next month. After developing preeclampsia during her second pregnancy in 2011, she suffered from impaired kidney function.
She previously received a kidney from her father but has been undergoing dialysis for 14 years. Doctors recently recommended a second transplant — this time, her brother will be the donor.
📢 Agency Sets the Record Straight
Lee Soo-geun's side issued a statement to dispel the rumors, saying, "We hope these misunderstandings do not spread further and ask for your continued warm support for Mr. Lee Soo-geun."
