Rowoon (29) has postponed his military enlistment after receiving a Grade 7 reassessment in his recent physical exam. He's now seeking to serve as an active-duty soldier.
An FNC Entertainment representative told Dispatch on July 17, "Rowoon received a Grade 7 classification during his July military enlistment physical conducted by the Military Manpower Administration (MMA)."
🏥 Requesting a Reassessment
The Grade 7 result means Rowoon must undergo reexamination to determine final eligibility.
"He has already submitted an appeal," the agency stated. "His reassessment is scheduled for early August. Rowoon hopes to enlist as an active-duty soldier once he is confirmed fit for service."
The agency also added, "We can't disclose the specific reason for the reassessment due to medical privacy, but he intends to clarify any issues raised and proceed with enlistment."
📅 Enlistment Postponed
Rowoon had originally been scheduled to enter basic training on July 21. However, his enlistment has been postponed. "A new enlistment date will be announced once it's confirmed," the agency said.
🇰🇷 New Enlistment Procedure
As of July, the MMA has introduced a new system where pre-enlistment physical exams are conducted two weeks before service instead of during initial military training. This aims to better assess suitability before placement.
🎬 Upcoming Historical Drama
Meanwhile, Rowoon is set to star in Disney+ historical series Turbid Waters later this year. The drama, set in the Joseon Dynasty, portrays a once-clear river that becomes a symbol of chaos in a shifting society.
He plays Jang Si-yul, a mysterious figure hiding his past and living as a rogue at the Mapo dock. He stars alongside Shin Ye-eun and Park Seo-ham.
