Former NCT member Taeil (30, real name Moon Taeil) and prosecutors have both filed appeals following the court's initial ruling in his sexual assault case.
⚖️ Taeil and Prosecutors Both Appeal
On July 16, Taeil submitted an appeal to the Seoul Central District Court's 26th Criminal Division (Judge Lee Hyun-kyung). His two accomplices, who were convicted alongside him, filed their appeals the previous day.
Prosecutors have also appealed the verdict, citing the sentence as too lenient. Initially, they had requested a 7-year prison term, emphasizing the seriousness and severity of the crime.
On July 10, Taeil was taken into custody in court after being sentenced to 3 years and 6 months in prison for aggravated rape under Korea's Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes.
🧾 Court's Reasoning
"The defendants took advantage of the victim while she was in a state of helplessness," said the judge. "The crime was extremely grave, and the victim is believed to have suffered significant psychological trauma."
Taeil and his co-defendants admitted to the charges during the trial. Taeil reportedly stated, "I want to live my life doing something that contributes to society. I will do my best," asking the court for leniency.
🚨 Details of the Case
