Mnet's upcoming survival show Boys 2 Planet is facing controversy before its official premiere.
🚨 Allegations Surface Online
On July 17, a post surfaced on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) accusing a specific contestant, referred to as A, of bullying fellow trainees during their time at B Entertainment. The poster, identified as C, claimed that A's verbal abuse caused several trainees to suffer from mental health issues, even leading some to voluntarily leave the company.
🗣️ Statement from the Production Team
In a response to Dispatch, the Boys 2 Planet production team said:
"We recognize the seriousness of this matter and are currently verifying the facts surrounding the post."
They added that they are reaching out to former agency staff, acquaintances, and individuals mentioned in the post to confirm the truth.
"We're speaking with people who worked at B Entertainment and those close to the individuals named in the post."
⚖️ Legal Review Underway
In addition to the internal investigation, the production team is reviewing potential legal implications of the allegations, hinting that they may pursue legal action if defamation or false information is involved.
📄 Claims and Evidence
C, the accuser, stated:
"I felt it was important for the public to be aware of A's past behavior and character before the program aired. This is for the sake of the other trainees who deserve a fair chance."
They also expressed a wish to see a healthier and more ethical K-pop culture.
To support their claims, C attached documents, including proof of psychiatric treatment payments and insurance claim records, covering the period from February 5 to November 26, 2024.
📺 Show Premiere Still On
Despite the controversy, Boys 2 Planet is scheduled to premiere on July 18. The show aims to form the next top-tier K-pop boy group through a competitive survival format.
