MC Mong is stepping away from his role as head of ONEHUNDRED and heading overseas to focus on his health and music.
💬 Announces Hiatus via Social Media
On July 17, MC Mong shared a heartfelt letter on social media explaining his decision. He cited severe depression and recent surgeries as reasons for his declining health, which ultimately led him to choose a new path.
🛫 Studying Abroad for Growth
"I've decided to study abroad in hopes of making music for a longer time," he wrote. "I've entrusted everything to Chairman Cha Gawon and made this choice for my own health and growth."
MC Mong plans to focus on music and language studies during his time abroad. "Even at this late stage in life, I'm desperate to grow — and to be healthy again," he added.
🎧 Reflecting on Producing and Artists
Looking back on his work as a producer, he said, "I loved producing so much, but I worried I might overshadow the artists I support."
He continued, "They will shine even brighter now. I hope they become amazing artists through the full support of the label — just as you, the fans, hope they will."
🎤 Album and Concert Promise
To fans, he made a promise: "I will release an album and hold a concert this year — I now realize how much my music means to me, and I'm sorry it took so long to see it."
MC Mong ended the letter on a poetic note: "Today's sun can't dry tomorrow's wet clothes… but I'm happy knowing you'll still be listening to my music tomorrow."
🏢 Steps Down as ONEHUNDRED's Head
Last month, ONEHUNDRED confirmed to Dispatch that MC Mong had stepped down from his role as general producer, without disclosing the reason. A source added, "We're not able to comment on future plans at this time. We're sorry."
MC Mong co-founded ONEHUNDRED with FIAK Group chairman Cha Gawon in 2023 and helped debut rookie girl group BADVILLAIN.
