Jangsu County Office has issued an official apology following a booking controversy surrounding their upcoming local festival. The confusion involved Girls' Generation's Taeyeon and trot singer Kim Taeyeon, sparking backlash from fans and residents alike.
📍 What Happened?
On July 18, Jangsu County posted a statement on Instagram, admitting that their event agency, JTV, had originally considered booking Girls' Generation's Taeyeon for the opening performance of the Jangsu Hanwoo & Apple Festival. However, due to scheduling issues, her appearance was canceled. The agency later secured trot singer Kim Taeyeon without notifying the county office in advance, resulting in public confusion.
🙇♀️ Official Apology to Both Artists
"We sincerely apologize to both Taeyeon and Kim Taeyeon, as well as to their fans and the local residents, for the miscommunication and lack of transparency," the county stated. The operating agency has reportedly conveyed heartfelt apologies to both artists' teams, and their agencies have requested the incident not be further escalated.
🔧 Moving Forward
The festival's organizing team promised to address the flaws in their planning process, stating, "We will improve our internal coordination and ensure that such mistakes do not occur again. Our goal is to deliver a successful and respectful event."
🎤 Backstory of the Mix-Up
Initially, a promotional poster featuring Girls' Generation's Taeyeon circulated online, causing excitement among fans. However, SM Entertainment quickly denied any official booking, stating they had never received such a request. Eventually, it was clarified that the confirmed performer was Kim Taeyeon—not the K-pop idol.
