The fantasy action blockbuster Omniscient Reader has claimed the No.1 spot at the Korean box office for five consecutive days since its release.
🎬 Opening Weekend Domination
According to the Korean Film Council's integrated ticketing system, Omniscient Reader drew 427,362 viewers over its first weekend (July 25–27). Since premiering on July 23, it has maintained the top spot for five days in a row, bringing its total admissions to 627,890.
🌍 From Global Webnovel to the Big Screen
Based on the hit webnovel by author Sing N Song—which boasts over 200 million global views—Omniscient Reader imagines a world where a fictional dungeon universe comes to life.
Ahn Hyo-seop leads the film as Kim Dok-ja, the only reader who knows how the story unfolds. The cast also includes Lee Min-ho, Chae Soo-bin, Shin Seung-ho, Nana, and Ji Soo.
💥 Visual Spectacle Meets Mixed Reactions
Viewers praised the film's grand-scale VFX and adrenaline-pumping creature battles set in a post-apocalyptic Seoul. The intense chemistry and action sequences from Ahn Hyo-seop and Lee Min-ho also received high marks.
However, some critics pointed out that the plot felt underdeveloped, with character emotions lacking depth. While visually impressive, the film reportedly fell short in fully satisfying fans of the original webnovel.
