New showcase reveals the emotional journey behind their music
🎸 "We're a Better Band Today Than Yesterday!"
Rising K-band Dragon Pony is back, and they're here to tell a story. Known for their deeply personal and relatable lyrics, the band continues to sing about the fears, hopes, and growth of youth.
Their debut mini-album Pop Up explored the anxiety of youth, while their second EP Not Out tackled the shadows within. Now, their new single takes things one step further—with even more maturity and vulnerability.
🌏 'Earth Boy'—A Soundtrack for the Lost and Dreaming
On July 29, Dragon Pony held a media showcase at YES24 Wonder Rock Hall in Seoul to introduce their new digital single Earth Boy.
The track paints a vivid picture of youthful anxiety and aimless wandering, comparing the feeling to a spaceship drifting off course. With layered instruments and harmonies, the band sonically recreates the vast emptiness of space.
"Earth Boy is a song we wrote as trainees," said member Pyeon Seong-hyeon. "It captures the raw anxiety and memories unique to that time."
He added, "Back then, we felt like we hadn't landed on Earth yet. So the title reflects our desire to finally feel grounded."
🎤 From Rehearsal Rooms to Global Festivals
Before its official release, Earth Boy was performed at festivals—and received immense fan love. "It became one of our most requested live songs. We're grateful to finally release it officially," said Ahn Tae-gyu.
Dragon Pony is gaining recognition abroad, too. Last month, they performed at the Korea-ASEAN Music Festival in Malaysia. "Even during soundcheck, the crowd cheered like crazy," recalled Go Kang-hun. "They even sang along in Korean during the show. It was emotional."
They've also attracted attention from global artists. Japanese band Mrs. GREEN APPLE expressed interest in collaborating, and Ahn Tae-gyu was invited as a guest performer at the Let Me Know concert.
Go Kang-hun also went viral for his cover of Kaikai Kitan from the anime Jujutsu Kaisen. "The original artist Eve even left a comment—it meant a lot," he said with a smile.
🌟 1 Year In—And Only Getting Stronger
Reflecting on their first year, Ahn Tae-gyu said, "We've experienced so much through festivals and broadcasts. We'll turn those emotions into even better music going forward."
Pyeon Seong-hyeon added, "Now that we're part of Korean band history, we want to write a meaningful chapter of our own. We'll never stop growing."
To close the showcase, Dragon Pony delivered passionate live performances of Not Out and Morse Code. "Hope this performance helps beat the summer heat," Ahn said with a grin, launching into the music.
Their stage presence quickly drew the audience in. Even a shy call for applause from Pyeon had the room clapping and laughing along.
