Actor Park Jung-min is stepping up for his first-ever dual role since debut—portraying both father and son in the upcoming mystery film The Face.
🎭 A New Side of Park Jung-min
On July 31, the production team of director Yeon Sang-ho's The Face unveiled six new character stills. Park Jung-min plays both middle-aged Im Young-gyu and his son Im Dong-hwan in the same timeline.
The Face tells the story of a visually impaired seal engraving master, Im Young-gyu, and his son, who together unravel the 40-year-old mystery behind the mother's death.
🔍 One Actor, Two Powerful Characters
Park takes on the challenging roles of both father and son. As Im Young-gyu, a blind craftsman who never saw his wife's face; and as Im Dong-hwan, a son chasing after the truth about his mother's face.
Interestingly, it was Park himself who proposed the dual-role concept to director Yeon. "If this is a film born out of good intentions and meaning, I wanted to contribute in my own way on set," he shared.
🎬 Transforming into Two Lives
To portray Im Young-gyu, Park wore a wig and special milky-white contact lenses to simulate visual impairment. He also trained extensively in traditional stamp-making techniques to fully embody the role.
Director Yeon praised Park's commitment, saying, "From studying the script to mastering seal carving, he brought immense passion to the project."
He added, "Dong-hwan's character especially requires subtle emotional reactions during five key interviews. Park's unconventional acting brought greater immersion to the film."
📅 The Face is set to premiere in September 2025 in theaters.
