Seunghan is officially kicking off his solo career. On July 31, the artist unveiled a Q&A session to mark his debut and shared details about his new single Waste No Time and upcoming activities.
The debut release includes two tracks: the title track Waste No Time and the B-side Heavenly Blue. Seunghan describes the single as "a snapshot of a summer day."
🎶 Feel-good EDM for summer drives
The title track is an electronic dance song featuring a bright sound and a catchy melody. Seunghan recommends it as "the perfect song to play during a summer daytime drive."
He also participated in writing and choreographing Heavenly Blue. "The lyrics are a message to my fans," he explained. "The choreography reflects the song's free-spirited vibe."
He'll continue his music journey under the brand Seunghan & Soul, a crew concept he personally developed. "I love trying new things. I created this idea to show fresh sides of myself," he said.
Seunghan will promote this album with two dancers. "Since dance is my biggest passion, I wanted to make it a key part of my debut," he shared. "I worked with two dancers close to my age, and we prepared this project together."
Waste No Time drops on all major streaming platforms at 6 PM KST on July 31. A fan showcase will be held at 7 PM at Shinhan Card SOL Pay Square Live Hall in Mapo-gu, Seoul.
🎤 Q&A with Seunghan
Q. How do you feel about debuting as a solo artist? What is 'Seunghan & Soul'?
I'm mostly feeling excited! Seunghan & Soul came from thinking about how I could show a fresher, more creative side of myself. I enjoy taking on new challenges, and I wanted this crew concept to open up more possibilities. I'll do my best to show you great performances—please look forward to it!
Q. Why are you working with two dancers for your debut?
Dance has always been my biggest passion, so I really wanted to make it the focus of my debut. Naturally, I teamed up with two dancers around my age to create something together. I call my friends "Soulies."
Q. If you had to describe the single in one sentence?
I'd call it "a single that captures a day in summer." Waste No Time is like a bright summer afternoon, while Heavenly Blue feels more like a dreamy summer night. I recommend listening to the title track when you're out driving, and the B-side when you're winding down in the evening.
Q. What was your first reaction to the two songs?
The moment I heard them, I thought, "Wow, I really want to do these." Both are electronic dance tracks, a genre I've always loved. I remember my Soulies heard the demos too and instantly loved them.
Q. Any memorable moments from recording or shooting the music video for 'Waste No Time'?
Recording was a challenge because of the fast rhythm and wordy lyrics—I had to be super focused. For the music video, we shot in Mongolia, and I'll never forget running full speed with my Soulies. It had been a while since I sprinted like that, and it felt so refreshing and joyful that I couldn't stop smiling.
Q. How did it feel to write and choreograph 'Heavenly Blue'?
Since the song is dedicated to my fans, I took time alone to really think through the lyrics. The choreography was created with my Soulies, and we focused on delivering a "free-spirited" vibe. We wanted to avoid anything too rigid or formulaic—we wanted it to feel natural and like, "This is us doing our thing."
Q. What are your goals for the future?
I love dancing, but I also love singing. Someday, I'd love to do a full band project. I want to release an album filled with songs I've written and composed myself. I think lyrics are really important, so I spend my free time reading books and listening to music—it's my way of studying and staying inspired.
Q. A message to your fans?
There's a lyric in Heavenly Blue that goes, "You're not the light, but you're the one who lights me up." I wrote it while thinking of my fans. You've always been my source of inspiration, and I'm truly grateful. I worked hard to prepare this for you, so I hope you enjoy it!
