Ends Up Dining at a Convenience Store
100% Success Streak Broken
JTBC's popular variety show Let's Eat Dinner Together (Han-kki-hap-show) experienced its first major setback on the fourth episode of its reboot. The cast failed to secure a home-cooked meal in Hannam-dong, Seoul.
The July 31 episode featured hosts Kim Hee-sun and Tak Jae-hoon, joined by actor Lee Kyu-hyung and star chef Lee Yeon-bok, as they ventured into the upscale neighborhood to find a family to share dinner with.
While previous missions in Seongbuk-dong, Yeonhui-dong, and Eunpyeong Hanok Village all ended in success, Hannam-dong proved to be an unexpected challenge.
No Door Opened in Hannam-dong
Despite Lee Kyu-hyung's claim of being a "10-year Hannam resident," the cast struggled to even encounter residents. About 50 minutes into the show, they finally saw movement near a front gate—and were briefly hopeful when someone recognized Kim Hee-sun. But ultimately, the door stayed shut.
This marked the first failure in the show's history.
Plan B: The Convenience Store Rule
With no dinner invite, the cast turned to a newly revealed backup plan: the "convenience store meal" rule. Using the average customer budget of ₩10,710, they had to create their own meals from store-bought ingredients.
Creative recipes were born. Kim Hee-sun whipped up a combo meal using frozen pizza, dubbed the "Hee-sun Special." Chef Lee Yeon-bok made a unique jjajang ramen topped with onions and hot bar slices.
Even dessert got a creative twist—Lee Kyu-hyung served vanilla ice cream topped with chocolate snacks and potato chips.
New Broadcast Schedule Starting August 5
Let's Eat Dinner Together is also changing its broadcast day. Beginning August 5, the show will air every Tuesday at 8:50 p.m. KST.
