AI-Generated Content Sparks Backlash
Controversy has erupted after explicit AI-generated lyrics were overlaid onto an original soundtrack from Netflix's "K-Pop Demon Hunters" (often abbreviated as "KDH") and circulated online.
The video, which featured the song "Soda Pop," spread across platforms like YouTube and various online communities. The altered version included profanity and sexual language, raising alarm.
Concerns Over Accessibility to Minors
The video was uploaded with hashtags related to KDH, making it easily discoverable—even by young viewers. Critics expressed concern that such content could negatively influence children and teens.
Art Director Speaks Out
On August 1, the Art Director of "K-Pop Demon Hunters" took to social media to address the issue, stating,
"I'm deeply disappointed by how some people choose to consume content meant for children in such a way."
He further noted that he had forwarded the links and materials to Netflix, confirming that the original video had since been taken down.
Legal Action Under Consideration
The Art Director urged users to report reuploads, saying,
"If you see copies of the video resurfacing, please inform me. I will escalate it again to Netflix's legal team."
Channels Closed, But Reuploads Continue
The original uploader has since deleted their YouTube channel, but other users have attempted to repost the controversial video, prompting further concern. One such user later issued a public apology.
