1 Million Tickets Sold in Record Time
The comedy film "My Daughter is a Zombie" (directed by Pil Gam-sung) is off to a phenomenal start. Within just four days of release, the movie has surpassed 1 million moviegoers.
According to the Korean Film Council's integrated ticketing system, the film recorded 1,146,221 cumulative admissions as of 7 AM on August 2, topping the Korean box office.
Fastest Milestone of the Year
This makes "My Daughter is a Zombie" the fastest film to hit 1 million admissions in 2025, outperforming Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning (dir. Christopher McQuarrie) by a full day. It matched the speed of Mickey 17 (dir. Bong Joon-ho), one of the year's most highly anticipated releases.
This performance puts it on par with some of the biggest Korean summer blockbusters in recent years, including "Smugglers" (2023) and "Pilot" (2024).
Record-Breaking Opening Day
"My Daughter is a Zombie" also set the record for the highest opening-day score of any Korean comedy film. On July 30, its first day in theaters, it drew more than 430,000 viewers.
As of 10:20 AM on August 2, it held the top spot in real-time ticket reservations, with a 34.4% share—surpassing global and domestic competitors like F1: The Movie (13.9%) and The Devil Has Moved In (7.3%).
Family, Heart, and Humor in a Zombie Flick
Based on a popular Korean webtoon, Zombie Daughter follows a father's desperate struggle to protect his daughter—who has turned into a zombie. The film stars Cho Jung-seok, Lee Jung-eun, and Choi Yoo-ri.
Despite its zombie theme, the movie delivers warmth through its family-driven storyline, striking a balance between humor, thrills, and emotion. The cast's dynamic performances have been widely praised by critics and audiences alike.
