Veteran actor Han Suk-kyu is teaming up with rising stars Bae Hyun-sung and Lee Re in tvN's upcoming Monday-Tuesday drama The Negotiator's Dilemma (Korean title: Shin Sajang Project), which promises a unique mix of wit, warmth, and neighborhood charm.
Script Reading Session Unveiled
On August 5, tvN revealed photos from the show's first script reading. Joining the session were screenwriter Ban Gi-ri and director Shin Kyung-soo, along with lead cast members Han Suk-kyu, Bae Hyun-sung, and Lee Re. Their chemistry hinted at the strong ensemble performance to come.
The drama tells the story of a former top negotiator who now runs a neighborhood fried chicken shop. But when conflict arises—whether between neighbors or in the broader community—he's the one people turn to. Using wit and words, he steps in to resolve disputes with heart and humor.
Han Suk-kyu plays the title role of Shin Sajang, a neighborhood hero whose past as a master negotiator makes him the go-to guy for any kind of problem. His lively banter and grounded performance bring the character to life.
Bae Hyun-sung portrays Jo Philip, a rookie judge suddenly thrown into the world of chicken frying. His confusion and comedic timing add layers to his role as a "fish out of water."
Lee Re plays Lee Si-on, an all-around part-time worker from the MZ generation. She brings spunk and energy, acting as a relatable voice for younger viewers.
Drama Hook: Talk It Out, Laugh It Off
The production team emphasized that the show's unique appeal lies in how it resolves conflict—through words. "We want to show that talking through problems can be both cathartic and hilarious," they shared. "We hope viewers will become regulars at Shin Sajang's shop."
The Negotiator's Dilemma is set to premiere next month on tvN.
