Director Yeon Sang-ho returns with a gripping new mystery film, The Face, set to open in both South Korea and North America next month.
According to Variety on August 7, the production team recently signed a distribution deal with U.S. distributor Well Go USA, securing North American rights for the film. As a result, the movie will be released simultaneously in Korea and the United States.
World Premiere at Toronto International Film Festival
The Face will have its global premiere at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) next month. The film has been invited to the festival's Special Presentation section and is slated for North American release on September 26.
Intricate Plot with Park Jung-min in a Dual Role
The film follows Im Young-kyu, a blind master of traditional seal engraving, and his son Im Dong-hwan, as they uncover the truth behind the mother's mysterious death—hidden for over 40 years. Actor Park Jung-min takes on the challenge of playing both father and son. The cast also includes Kwon Hae-hyo and Shin Hyun-bin.
Praise from U.S. Distributor
Doris Pfardrescher, president of Well Go USA, described the film as "a captivating mystery thriller about a family's hidden past," noting its "layered script and powerful performances" as standout elements.
Domestic Release Also Set for September
The Face is also scheduled for theatrical release in South Korea next month.
