The film 'Zombie Daughter' (directed by Pil Gam-sung) is making waves both in Korea and abroad, earning an invitation to a prestigious international film festival while continuing its strong domestic box office run.

According to the Korean Film Council's integrated ticketing system, 'Zombie Daughter' attracted 840,481 moviegoers over the weekend (August 8–10). As of 10 a.m. on August 11, its cumulative audience has reached 3,351,404.

The movie has ranked No. 1 at the box office for two consecutive weeks, outperforming titles such as 'F1 The Movie,' 'King of Kings,' 'Ballerina,' 'Smurfs,' and 'The Bad Guys 2.' On August 9, it became the fastest film of 2025 to surpass 3 million viewers.

'Zombie Daughter' has also caught the attention of international critics. It has been officially invited to the 58th Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival, to be held from October 9 to 19, where it will compete in the Panorama section.

Sitges Festival director Ángel Sala praised the film, saying, "It achieves a perfect balance of comedy and drama centered on the theme of family. While it follows classic comedy formulas, it resonates strongly with younger audiences."

The film's originality and fantasy elements have also been recognized. "Director Pil Gam-sung masterfully blends genres and tones. 'Zombie Daughter' stands as one of the most significant works in contemporary Korean cinema," he added.

Based on a popular webtoon, 'Zombie Daughter' is a heartfelt comedy about a father (played by Jo Jung-suk) who undergoes secret training to protect his daughter after she turns into a zombie.
