Actress Su Hyun will grace the finale of the 30th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) as the official host of the closing ceremony, an event symbolizing BIFF's first leap into the ranks of competitive film festivals on the global stage.

On August 11, the BIFF Secretariat announced, "Su Hyun has been selected as the host of the closing ceremony, which will serve as a platform to introduce BIFF's transformation into a competitive film festival to the world."

Solo Hosting Role for 'Busan Awards'

This year, both the opening and closing ceremonies will be hosted solo by male and female presenters, respectively. Actor Lee Byung Hun was previously confirmed as the opening ceremony host. Su Hyun will take the stage alone to present the prestigious 'Busan Awards,' wrapping up the festival with elegance and poise.

The festival organizers expressed high expectations, stating, "Su Hyun will bring a memorable close to the festival. With her outstanding acting career and exceptional language skills, she will serve as a bridge between films and audiences."

A Global Acting Career

Su Hyun made her debut in 2006 with the drama Queen of the Game. She became the first Korean actor to appear in a Marvel film, playing Dr. Helen Cho in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015). She also took part in global hits such as Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018) and The Dark Tower (2017).

Her domestic career has been equally impressive, featuring in dramas like Not a Hero (2024) and Gyeongseong Creature, as well as the film A Normal Family (2024), which earned her the Best Supporting Actress award at the 61st Baeksang Arts Awards.

The 30th Busan International Film Festival will be held from October 17 to 26 at the Busan Cinema Center and surrounding venues.
