HUNTRIX has made K-pop history with their latest track "Golden" from the Netflix film K-pop Demon Hunters, claiming the No.1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100.
Billboard announced on August 12 (KST) that "Golden" rose from last week's No.2 to the top position, surpassing American singer-songwriter Alex Warren's debut album title track "Ordinary." This marks the first-ever Hot 100 No.1 for the fictional K-pop girl group featured in the movie.
A Historic Milestone for K-pop
This is the ninth time a K-pop song has topped the Hot 100. BTS previously reached the summit eight times, including group hits and solo tracks such as Jimin's "Like Crazy" and Jungkook's "Seven." For female K-pop artists, HUNTRIX's achievement is unprecedented, making them the first to claim the title. They are also the first girl group since Destiny's Child's "Bootylicious" in 2001 to conquer the Hot 100.
Strong Performance Across All Metrics
The Hot 100 ranking combines U.S. streaming data, radio airplay, and sales. K-pop tracks rarely top the chart due to the competitive nature of the metrics. "Golden" recorded 31.7 million streams from August 1–7, a 9% increase from the previous week, alongside 8.4 million radio impressions (up 71%) and 7,000 downloads.
Power of the 'K-pop Demon Hunters' Soundtrack
"Golden" is performed by HUNTRIX, a virtual girl group created for K-pop Demon Hunters. The track was produced by Teddy, 24, and features vocals from Korean-American artists Lee Jae, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami. Its uplifting lyrics, bright melody, and soaring high notes resonated with global listeners, boosting the film's popularity and climbing charts worldwide.
Since its debut at No.81 on the Hot 100 last month, "Golden" steadily rose to 23rd, 6th, 4th, and 2nd place before finally reaching the top in its seventh week.
