Minnie from (G)I-DLE is set to make her big-screen debut as the lead in the Thai remake of the romantic comedy "50 First Dates." The original film, released in 2024 in Korea, tells the story of Lucy Whitmore (Drew Barrymore), a woman with short-term memory loss, and Henry Roth (Adam Sandler), a zookeeper who falls for her at first sight.
In the remake, Minnie will take on the female lead role, bringing a delicate and heartfelt performance. The film is a co-production between Sony Pictures International Productions and Thai studio GDH.
Her co-star is Thai model and actor Nadech Kugimiya, known for his roles in the 2019 Thai adaptation of "My Love from the Star" and last year's Thai box-office hit "Death Whisperer 2." The remake will be directed and produced by renowned Thai filmmaker Mez Tharatorn, with a screenplay co-written by Thodsapol Thiptinnakorn and Benjamaporn Srabua. Filming is scheduled to begin in October.
Minnie first ventured into acting in 2021 through the Netflix series "So Not Worth It." In this project, she is expected to showcase her signature bright and lovable charm.
Meanwhile, (G)I-DLE will perform at Japan's largest music festival, Summer Sonic 2025, on August 16–17.
