AmpersandONE Marks Bold Turning Point with 3rd Mini Album That's That
by. ymchoi

K-pop boy group AmpersandONE has shed their bright, youthful image in favor of a stronger, hip-hop-driven concept for their third mini album That's That, released August 12.

At their showcase in Seoul's Sky Art Hall, member Brian called the comeback a "turning point," noting that while the group had previously shown fresh and cool concepts, this time they were tackling something "intense and hip" for the first time.

A Concept Shift: From Fresh to Fierce

Known for their debut single AmpersandONE's refreshing vibe and Wild & Free's youthful freedom, the group now ventures into bold hip-hop territory. Title track That's That combines addictive saxophone riffs with dynamic trap and ratchet beats, while embracing the "bad angel" concept to break stereotypes.

"Even in the face of prejudice and set standards, we wanted to show a confident AmpersandONE," said Seungmo. Jiho added that the group aimed to broaden their spectrum with this release.

Tracklist & Member Contributions

The album features six songs:

  • That's That (title)
  • 삐걱삐걱 (Squeaky)
  • Get Famous
  • 길을 비켜 (Make Way)
  • 일냈어 (I Did It)
  • I'm Down

Makaya and Na Camden contributed lyrics to all tracks — a first for them — drawing inspiration from books, films, and daily conversations. Na Camden revealed he instantly knew That's That had to be the title track upon hearing its demo during their U.S. tour.

Performance & Choreography

The performance blends sharp, synchronized moves with a mischievous street vibe, incorporating hip-hop walking and mic-passing elements. The point choreography, described by Jiho as symbolizing "win or lose," features a hand-flip and foot movement that's easy for fans to follow.

Makaya said, "We've come back with stronger music, but you'll still feel the freedom and ease inside it. The title track's message is embedded in the choreography."

Goals & Future Plans

Marking their third year since debut, the group hopes this comeback will solidify their identity. "We want to make our name known for AmpersandONE's distinctive music," Seungmo said, while Na Camden voiced hopes for a music show win.

Following their Asia–North America fan meeting tour earlier this year, the members expressed a desire for a world tour hitting Canada, the U.S., and Australia — the home countries of several members.

That's That is now available on major music platforms.
