The Netflix animated film K-Pop Demon Hunters (directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans) has scored another milestone, climbing to second place on the platform's all-time global Top 10 list.
According to Netflix's official site Tudum, as of August 13 (KST), the film has recorded a total of 184.6 million views — calculated by dividing total watch hours by its runtime — with a staggering 307.6 million total viewing hours.
Closing in on the No. 1 Spot
All eyes are now on whether it can surpass the reigning No. 1, Red Notice, which amassed 230.9 million views within its first 91 days.
K-Pop Demon Hunters is an animation centered on K-pop idols. The story follows "Huntrix," a girl group doubling as demon hunters, as they face off against "Lion Boys."
OST Powers Global Popularity
The original soundtrack has been a major driver of the film's worldwide success. Huntrix's "Golden" recently topped both the UK and US music charts. "Your Idol" and "Soda Pop" by Lion Boys, along with Huntrix's "How It's Done," have also landed on key global rankings.
Netflix plans to submit "Golden" for consideration in the Best Original Song category at next year's Academy Awards.
