Director Yeon Sang-ho is making his big-screen comeback with Face, set to premiere on September 11, according to distributor Plus M Entertainment. Dubbed part of the "Genesis Yeoniverse," the film promises an intense blend of suspense and mystery.
The story follows a blind master engraver and his son as they dig into the truth behind the death of the family's matriarch — a mystery buried for 40 years.
Unique Posters Tease Hidden Truths
Two main posters were revealed, each sparking intrigue. One features a silhouette carved out like a stamp, while the other uses an actual stamp motif, imprinting the characters tied to the late Jung Young-hee across the design. The tagline, "The truth bares its face," hints at five revealing interviews that will unravel the mystery of Young-hee's death.
Park Jung-min takes on dual roles, portraying both the young Im Young-kyu and his son, Im Dong-hwan. Veteran actor Kwon Hae-hyo plays the older Young-kyu, meeting his on-screen son in a tense father-son dynamic.
Official Trailer Builds Suspense
The main trailer highlights the double-layered mystery surrounding Young-hee, whose skeletal remains are discovered four decades later. The narrative moves seamlessly between past and present, heightening the tension.
Face has also been invited to the 50th Toronto International Film Festival under the "Special Presentation" section, where it will hold its world premiere.
