The 80th anniversary of Korea's Liberation Day sparked a wave of patriotism across the entertainment industry, with celebrities paying tribute to the nation's independence and honoring the sacrifices of freedom fighters.

Celebrities Attend Liberation Day Ceremonies

Actor Cho Jin-woong attended the 80th Liberation Day ceremony at Sejong Center in Jongno, Seoul, wearing a black suit and tie. He solemnly recited the pledge to the national flag, stating, "Before the proud Taegukgi, I pledge my loyalty for the eternal glory of a free and just Republic of Korea."

The event, themed "80 Years of Liberation, Building the Future through National Sovereignty," was attended by around 2,500 people, including relatives of independence activists, government officials, diplomats, and citizens. Cho Jin-woong previously participated as a "national special envoy" during the 2021 repatriation of General Hong Beom-do's remains and has honored the spirit of independence fighters in films such as Assassination.

Lee enlisted in February 2016 and was discharged in October 2017, serving in the 13th Airborne Special Forces Brigade's Heukpyo Unit under the Army Special Warfare Command.

Actor and model Bae Jung-nam expressed his gratitude, saying, "On the 80th Liberation Day, I thank all patriots who sacrificed their lives for our nation's independence. Their noble sacrifice will never be forgotten." He also shared his personal collection of Taegukgi photos. Bae portrayed Jo Do-seon, the top marksman of independence fighters, in the 2023 film Hero, deepening his connection to the national flag.
