Singer Sean marked the 80th anniversary of Korea's Liberation Day by leading the charitable marathon 815 Run.
Challenging 81.5 km in Summer Heat
On August 15, Sean participated as an "offline runner" at World Cup Park in Sangam, Seoul for the 2025 815 Run, completing 81.5 km in 7 hours, 50 minutes, and 21 seconds under the summer sun.
Celebrities Join the Cause
Famous figures including actors Im Si-wan, Choi Si-won, Yoon Se-a, Jin Sun-kyu, Go Han-min, Im Se-mi, Lee Si-woo, former national footballers Lee Young-pyo and Cho Won-hee also participated as runners.
Park Bo-gum joined the initiative remotely from Singapore, where he was conducting his fan meeting tour Be With U. Sean shared a photo on social media showing Park Bo-gum wearing the campaign T-shirt, captioning, "It'll be great, Korea! Bo-gum certified too."
NewJeans' Daniel also took part in the offline run, captured in photos online wearing a white cap and sunglasses while running alongside other participants. He appeared in group shots with Yoon Se-a, who described their meeting as a connection "made possible through Sean."
A Charitable Initiative Honoring Independence Heroes
The 815 Run is a donation-driven marathon organized by Sean and the international nonprofit Korea Habitat to honor the dedication and sacrifice of Korean independence activists and support their descendants. This year marked its sixth edition, with a record-breaking 19,450 participants, up from 3,000 in 2020.
Significant Fundraising Impact
The event raised 2.1 billion KRW this year, exceeding the initial 1 billion KRW target. Funds are allocated to improving housing for descendants of independence heroes; earlier this year, houses numbered 18 and 19 were completed, with homes 20–22 currently under construction.
