Actress Shin Eun-kyung has been awarded the Golden Leopard, the top honor at the Locarno International Film Festival.
Shin attended the closing ceremony of the 78th Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland on August 17, receiving the Golden Leopard for her performance in director Sho Miyake's film Days of Travel.
At a separate Independent Jury Award ceremony, she expressed her gratitude in Korean: "I wanted to speak in Korean since audiences from around the world are watching." She continued, "It's an honor to participate in such a prestigious event, and I feel immense gratitude. This film holds deep meaning for me."
Shin also encouraged attention to the project, saying, "'Days of Travel' has the potential to reach even further through the Locarno Film Festival."
The Locarno International Film Festival is one of the world's oldest and most respected film festivals, considered among the six major global film festivals. Established in 1946, it is held annually in August.
Days of Travel marks a new work from emerging director Sho Miyake and has attracted early attention due to Shin Eun-kyung's involvement. Japanese star Shinichi Tsutsumi also appears in the film.
The film is scheduled for domestic release later this year.
