by. ymchoi

The upcoming film Project Y (directed by Lee Hwan) is set to meet audiences both in Korea and abroad before its official release.

Official BIFF Selection

On August 18, the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) announced that Project Y has been invited to the 30th BIFF under the "Korean Cinema Today – Special Premiere" section. This category highlights highly anticipated commercial Korean films and offers audiences an exclusive first look.

Alongside Project Y, four other titles will screen in the section: The Great Flood (Kim Byung-woo), Boss (Ra Hee-chan), Neighbors Upstairs (Ha Jung-woo), and Jjanggu (Jung Woo, Oh Sung-ho).

Crime Noir with a Female Lead Duo

Project Y is a crime noir about two women, bound only to each other, who attempt to escape their harsh reality by stealing black money and gold bars. Starring Han So-hee and Jun Jong-seo, the film has drawn attention for its gritty premise and dynamic female-led storyline.

From Toronto to Busan

In addition to BIFF, the film has also been invited to the 50th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in the "Special Presentations" section, where it will hold its world premiere on September 11 (KST).

Following its festival screenings, Project Y will be released in Korean theaters.
