by. ymchoi

Actor Kim Seon-ho's agency has announced strict measures against deepfake crimes targeting him.

Fantagio stated on August 19 that cases have emerged on social media involving deepfake videos and impersonation of Kim Seon-ho to solicit money. The agency emphasized that they are aware of the harm caused to Kim Seon-ho. "Impersonation of Kim Seon-ho and the dissemination of false information using deepfake technology are clear illegal acts," the statement said.

The agency confirmed it will take strong action against the creation and distribution of deepfake content. "We will continue to monitor and respond firmly to any such activities," they warned.

Fans were also urged to remain cautious. "We ask fans to be vigilant to avoid becoming victims themselves," the agency added.

Deepfake refers to AI-based image synthesis technology. Its misuse has surged, including creating sexually exploitative content and spreading fake news.

Kim Seon-ho is set to return to the public through upcoming projects, including the Netflix original series Does This Love Get Translated?.
