Singer Bada recently addressed controversy surrounding a misleading cosmetic advertisement, with the YouTube channel's production team issuing a follow-up apology.
The Controversy
Bada introduced a wrinkle-improving cream from brand M on the YouTube channel GlamMe, presenting it as a globally popular product from Australia. However, the cream was actually a domestic brand, prompting accusations of false advertising.
Production Team's Explanation
On August 15, the GlamMe production team posted an apology on Bada's fan café Calliope, stating, "The remarks did not reflect Bada's personal experience. They were scripted by the production team based on information provided by the advertiser." They added, "We requested verification from the advertiser and were told there was no issue. Nonetheless, we failed to sufficiently confirm facts such as origin and distribution channels," taking responsibility for the oversight.
Apology and Measures
The team apologized for causing public confusion and acknowledged Bada's efforts as a participant: "We sincerely regret the unnecessary burden and distress caused." They also promised preventative measures, noting that the video had been removed and stricter verification procedures would be implemented to avoid recurrence.
Bada's Statement
Bada personally posted an apology on her social media on August 5: "I disappointed viewers with the product I introduced on YouTube. I sincerely apologize." She reflected on her responsibility, stating, "I should have reviewed and judged the content more carefully before participating. I am deeply ashamed and reflective for not doing so."
