Jungkook of BTS has achieved another milestone. His solo single "Seven" has officially surpassed 2.5 billion streams on Spotify.
First K-Pop Solo Song to Hit 2.5 Billion Streams
According to Spotify's latest tally (as of August 18), Jungkook's "Seven," released in July 2023, became the first K-pop track ever to cross the 2.5 billion streaming mark. This record is unmatched by any other K-pop solo artist.
For comparison, BTS's mega-hit "Dynamite" has amassed around 2.1 billion streams, while Jimin's "Like Crazy" follows with 1.9 billion streams.
Jungkook's Streaming Power
Jungkook now boasts a cumulative 9.4 billion streams, the highest among K-pop solo artists. His solo album "Golden," released in November 2023, is nearing 6 billion streams alone. Other tracks such as "3D," "Yes or No," "Standing Next to You," "Still With You," "Dreamers," "Left and Right," and "Stay Alive" have all surpassed hundreds of millions of plays.
Global Impact of 'Seven'
"Seven" is a serenade about wanting to be with a loved one all week long. Its addictive melody blends acoustic guitar with UK garage-inspired rhythms. Upon release, it dominated the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, Global 200, and Global Excl. U.S. charts, debuting at No.1.
Remarkably, the track has remained on the Billboard Global 200 for 108 weeks and on the Global Excl. U.S. chart for 109 weeks (as of August 23), proving its long-lasting popularity more than two years after release.
Awards and Recognition
"Seven" also earned Jungkook major honors, including wins at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards, 2023 MTV Europe Music Awards, and 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards. Billboard named Jungkook one of its "2024 International Power Players," highlighting the global influence of "Seven," which ranked as the most popular song in over 200 countries outside the U.S.
Meanwhile, BTS is preparing to release a new group album next spring, heightening anticipation for the group's long-awaited comeback.
