Actors Lee Junho and Kim Min-ha are set to depict a survival story during the IMF crisis.
tvN's upcoming weekend drama Typhoon Trading (written by Jang Hyun, directed by Lee Na-jung) held its first script reading. The session included Lee Junho, Kim Min-ha, Kim Min-seok, Kwon Han-sol, Lee Chang-hoon, and Kim Jae-hwa.
Typhoon Trading is a human office drama following rookie businessman Kang Tae-poong (played by Lee Junho) as he struggles to revive a trading company left with no employees, funds, or assets due to the IMF crisis.
The script reading highlighted the cast's immersive performances, with all actors fully embodying their characters, transporting the room back to the harsh realities of 1997.
Lee Junho portrays Kang Tae-poong, evolving from a young "Orange Tribe" member to a determined businessman navigating the IMF era. His confident gaze and strong delivery left a deep impression. He conveyed subtle emotional shifts in each scene, balancing spirited and serious moments.
Kim Min-ha plays Oh Mi-seon, the eldest daughter of the K family and a Typhoon Trading employee aspiring to be a top office professional. She captured the era's Seoul dialect flawlessly, demonstrating strong acting chops.
Kim Min-seok portrays Kang's close friend, Wang Nam-mo, providing comic relief and enriching the youthful storyline. Other cast members include Lee Chang-hoon as Sales Manager Go Ma-jin, Kim Jae-hwa as General Affairs Deputy Manager Cha Seon-taek, Kim Song-il as Management Director Gu Myung-gwan, and Lee Sang-jin as Logistics Assistant Delivery Jung.
Lee Junho expressed anticipation for the collaboration, stating, "I'm looking forward to filming with the Typhoon Trading seniors. Their humor will surely bring joy to viewers."
Supporting roles feature Sung Dong-il and Kim Ji-young as Kang's parents, representing the joys and hardships of the generation who experienced both glory and collapse.
The production team emphasized, "Typhoon Trading tells the heartfelt survival story of ordinary people during the IMF. We hope it resonates with viewers, offering empathy and comfort." They added, "The 'Typhoon Spirit' of overcoming crises will inspire hope and courage in today's audience. We ask for much interest and anticipation."
Typhoon Trading is scheduled to premiere in October.
