GOT7's Yugyeom is set to begin his mandatory military service next month. The singer has been accepted into the Korean Army Band as a special recruit, fulfilling his duty through music.
Heartfelt Letter to Fans
On August 24, Yugyeom shared a handwritten letter on social media, expressing his thoughts ahead of enlistment. "I wanted to tell my Ahgase first that I'll be entering the military to serve my country and will do my best," he wrote.
He also reassured fans, saying, "I'll come back safe and healthy, so please take good care of yourselves, eat well, and stay healthy too." Yugyeom added a touching message: "When the moon rises, think of me. If you miss me, listen to my songs and remember me. I'll also look at the same moon and live my days well."
Military Service and Future Plans
Yugyeom will enter boot camp on September 29, where he will undergo basic training before serving in the Army Band. Known for combining his smooth vocals with dance and rap, his enlistment marks a pause in both group and solo activities.
Earlier this year, GOT7 released their full-group album Winter Heptagon. In June, Yugyeom dropped his 2nd solo studio album Interlunar, a project filled with his personal artistry and emotions, which now serves as a gift to fans before his military hiatus.
Yugyeom's enlistment leaves fans both proud and sentimental, as they prepare to support him until his return.
