Na Sang-hyun, vocalist of Na Sang-hyun Band, announced plans to pursue legal action in response to malicious online rumors.
On August 25, his agency, January, stated that complaints and lawsuits had been filed regarding violations of the Information and Communications Network Act (defamation), obstruction of business, insults, and dissemination of false information related to the band.
The agency added that they are identifying individuals spreading false and malicious statements and monitoring online platforms to collect evidence.
The controversy began when a post claimed that Na Sang-hyun had sexually harassed the author by touching her thigh while pretending to be drunk. The post also noted that, as it was a private setting, no evidence existed, and the account summarized the alleged incident.
Na Sang-hyun previously posted an apology on Twitter, saying, "I hurt the author through past behavior while drinking. Although late, I want to apologize now."
However, in June, the agency clarified, "After carefully reviewing the situation with the artist, the acts mentioned in the post did not occur." The agency emphasized that the allegations are false and that there is no actual victim.
Na Sang-hyun also stated, "I felt fear and anxiety as the situation escalated. Before confirming the facts, I thought it was correct to show an apologetic attitude first."
Na Sang-hyun serves as the vocalist and guitarist of Na Sang-hyun Band and contributes to songwriting and composition. He is a Seoul National University graduate and recognized singer-songwriter.
