Director Park Chan-wook is back with a gripping survival drama, promising the signature synergy of trusted actors.
CJ ENM released the third poster and a director's cut video for the film There's Nothing I Can Do on August 25, teasing unpredictable twists.
The poster captures multiple moments from the story. Central is Mansoo (Lee Byung-hun) dancing with Miri (Son Ye-jin). Contrastingly, Mansoo is also seen in work clothes over a suit, moving busily, his mysterious gaze adding intrigue.
Children in the film draw attention as well. Son Si-won watches Mansoo from a greenhouse roof, while daughter Ri-won sits by a doghouse, engrossed in something. Other characters, including Sun-chul (Park Hee-soon) on a phone call, Beom-mo (Lee Sung-min) and Ara (Yum Hye-ran) enjoying a picnic, and Si-jo (Cha Seung-won) facing rough waves, also appear.
The director's cut video includes Park Chan-wook's interview: "The film depicts a dismissed man gradually descending into darker circumstances."
He praised Lee Byung-hun, noting, "He has an incredible range of expressions, able to switch instantly whenever needed." Son Ye-jin also received acclaim, with Park commenting, "Watching her performance reaffirmed what a true professional she is."
Park described Park Hee-soon as portraying a "versatile character with highs and playful sides," Lee Sung-min as "relentless once again," Yum Hye-ran as someone he had "confidence in from the start," and Cha Seung-won as lending "a fun, bowing-style performance."
Highlighting the film's black comedy, Park recalled, "Lee Byung-hun's first question was, 'Can it be funny?' My answer: 'The funnier, the better.'"
There's Nothing I Can Do follows a man who, after being fired, struggles to reenter the workforce. The film opens on September 24.
