Actor and director Kim Hee-won will helm the drama adaptation of the popular Naver Webtoon Tough Guy.

Storyline and Direction
Tough Guy follows Han Yoo-hyun, an ordinary office worker who rises to become a CEO, losing everything he loves in the process, only to return to his youth and pursue a second chance at life. Kim Hee-won, who debuted as a director with the Disney+ series Lighting Shop, will bring his warm perspective on everyday life to the project. His direction in Lighting Shop earned him a Best Director nomination at the 61st Baeksang Arts Awards.

Webtoon Success and Global Popularity

The original webtoon, based on Kim Tae-gung's novel, has amassed over 470 million cumulative views since its 2020 release. It has gained notable international popularity, especially in Japan, Thailand, and Indonesia. In Japan, it ranked first in the human drama category on Naver Webtoon's Japanese service, LINE Manga, resonating with local readers through its realistic portrayal of office life.

Production Plans
Tough Guy is set to begin production with a target crank-in next year.
