Plot Overview
Japhil follows a Ministry of Justice ministerial candidate preparing for a confirmation hearing while unraveling past events connected to the letters of South Korea's last death row inmate. Jung Sung-il plays Seok-gyu, the promising political candidate who originally served as the prosecutor in a 1997 case, exploring the passage of time and its impact. Park Ji-hyun portrays Sun-hwa, sentenced to death and infamous as the villain in the "Migeum City Arson-Murder Case," delivering a captivating performance.
Director and Expectations
This film marks the feature debut of director Hong Sung-min and was selected for the Korea Film Council's feature film support program. The project is anticipated for its weighty themes and the actors' intense performances.
Japhil is currently in post-production and is scheduled for release next year.
