KBS's new dating program has sparked controversy even before its premiere. The show's concept—matching women in their 30s with younger men in their 20s—has drawn criticism for reinforcing stereotypes.
Show Concept and Controversy
Titled tentatively "Noona, You're Mine", the program is scheduled to air in October. It focuses on mid-to-late 30s women and 20-something men living together to find romantic partners.
The controversy stems from the concept's framing: female participants are described by age and marital status, while male participants are characterized mainly by appearance. Critics argue this format is inappropriate for a public broadcaster and promotes a skewed view of relationships.
KBS Response
KBS clarified on August 29 that the official production team's intentions differ from how the concept was interpreted in public documents. The network emphasized the show aims to portray women who have focused on their careers and men who believe age is just a number in love, highlighting authentic romantic journeys rather than superficial traits.
