Stray Kids have achieved a milestone on the Billboard charts, securing their seventh straight No. 1 with their latest release Karma.
Billboard reported on August 31 (KST) that Stray Kids topped the Billboard 200 with their fourth full-length album Karma. The group outperformed the soundtrack album for Netflix's film K-pop Demon Hunters (directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans), claiming yet another chart victory.
First in Billboard's 70-Year History
With Karma, Stray Kids became the first act in Billboard's seven-decade history to debut seven albums at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Their streak began in 2022 with Oddinary and continued with Maxident, 5-Star, Rockstar, ATE, and HAP.
Record-Breaking Sales
The group also set a new record for first-week U.S. album sales. Karma moved 313,000 equivalent album units during the charting week, including 296,000 in physical sales, 16,000 streaming equivalent albums (SEA), and 1,000 track equivalent albums (TEA). This surpasses their previous record set by 5-Star (249,500 units) by over 63,000.
The Billboard 200 ranks albums based on physical sales, streaming performance, and digital downloads, making it one of the most significant measures of an artist's commercial impact in the U.S.
Rising Global Recognition
Stray Kids' global success continues to draw industry recognition. They recently received their first nomination for "Best Group" at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMA), further solidifying their presence on the world stage.
Ongoing Promotions
Domestically, the group is in the midst of promotions for Karma. During the final week of August, they swept first place across major Korean music programs, underscoring their dominance both at home and abroad.
