tvN's drama "Tyrant's Chef" has achieved double-digit ratings in only its second week on air.
Episode 4, which aired on August 31, recorded a nationwide viewership of 11.1% according to Nielsen Korea. This marks the highest rating among tvN dramas this year and secured first place across all channels in the same time slot. The 2049 demographic, a key target for the channel, also led with a 4.5% rating nationwide.
The drama's ratings have steadily increased since its debut, which started at 4.9% in Episode 1. By Episode 4, the viewership had more than doubled.
This episode focused on Yeon Ji-young (played by Lim Yoon-ah) comforting the lonely tyrant King Lee Heon (played by Lee Chae-min), revealing subtle changes in his heart through her kind gestures. A variety of dishes were featured, including clams and spinach in a soybean paste soup and a completed soybean paste pasta, highlighting her culinary skills during the master chef competition.
A romantic moment also caught viewers' attention, as an intoxicated Lee Heon kissed Ji-young while she carried the drinks tray, creating a heartwarming scene.
The mysterious "Mangwoon Record" subplot added intrigue. Ji-young believes it is connected to how she was transported to the past, sparking curiosity about the link between the record, Ji-young, and Lee Heon.
"Tyrant's Chef" follows a time-traveling chef who encounters a tyrant king with an extraordinary sense of taste, blending historical intrigue with culinary romance.
