Actress Shin Ye-eun takes on the role of a righteous merchant in the upcoming Disney+ original series Takyu (written by Cheon Sung-il, directed by Choo Chang-min).
Set along Joseon's Gyeonggang River, Takyu is a destiny-driven action drama depicting characters striving to live honorably in a corrupt world. Shin portrays Choi Eun, who starts trading to earn her father's trust. With eloquence and exceptional skill, she navigates the injustices posed by law enforcers and local gangs.
Released stills highlight Choi Eun's soft charisma and firm resolve. Her determined gaze conveys a strong inner strength, reflecting the depth of her character.
Choi Eun's persona is inspired by the heroine of the novel Toji. The production team said, "We wanted Choi Eun to embody the bold and resilient qualities of Seohui from the novel."
Writer Cheon Sung-il returns after 14 years since the hit drama Chuno, with director Choo Chang-min, known for Masquerade and Land of Happiness, at the helm.
Takyu was officially invited to the "On Screen" section of the 30th Busan International Film Festival, a showcase for the year's most anticipated drama series.
The first three episodes will premiere on September 26, followed by two episodes weekly starting October 3.
