MBC's drama The Intimate Traitor (written by Han Ah-young, directed by Song Yeon-hwa) took home two trophies at the 52nd Korea Broadcasting Awards, including the prestigious Grand Prize.
The award ceremony, hosted by the Korea Broadcasters Association, was held on September 3 in Mapo, Seoul. The Intimate Traitor stood out for its gripping story about a profiler uncovering the truth behind a murder case involving his high school daughter. The drama was praised for its meticulous foreshadowing, artistic cinematography, and powerful performances.
The judging panel explained, "The work was chosen for its precise narrative structure, innovative directing, and deep reflection on human nature."
This marks only the third time MBC has won the Grand Prize at the awards. Notably, it is the first drama since Jewel in the Palace in 2004—21 years ago—to earn the honor, and the first MBC content overall since Infinite Challenge in 2015.
Director Song Yeon-hwa also received the Producer Award, crediting writer Han Ah-young, the staff, and the cast for the achievement, and promising to continue delivering quality dramas.
Launched in 1973, the Korea Broadcasting Awards recognize outstanding programs and individuals that contribute to the public value and development of terrestrial broadcasting.
